About Us
Projonmo is a non-profit organization that was established in 2013. The organization primarily works with children and adults with special needs. It registered under the Society Registration Act of 1860, and head office is located in Guwahati, Assam. Projonmo, works with a vision to unlocking the unique potential that resides within every individual with special needs. The organization approach involves providing the children and adult with special need with personalized support, innovative therapies, and skill development opportunities. Through these means, Projonmo aim is to help them achieve their aspirations and make meaningful contributions to the society. In line with the vision, Projonmo places significant emphasis on delivering meaningful and inclusive educational support to children with special needs. The organization particularly focuses on reaching out to the disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society in Assam.

We as Projonmo offer a unique opportunity to gain insight into the development sector through hands- on grassroots work, allowing interns to make a real contribution. Our high-quality internships provide a platform for interns to: Learn a profession in the workplace and acquire knowledge from experts. Work within a framework that allows for the development of existing and new skills. Consolidate learning from academic studies. Contribute to the development of a diverse environment. Internship opportunities are available throughout the year. Special Education
Our team consists of experienced and highly reputable therapists who work closely with children to promptly identify and enhance their skills. We employ a world-class curriculum that undergoes regular updates to ensure our children build a strong foundation of skills and knowledge. Our primary emphasis lies in the utilization of time-tested methods that are adaptable to each child's specific needs.
Remedial Education
At Projonmo, our commitment is to assist students who have completed special education but require additional reinforcement to supplement the foundation they've already established. We are dedicated to equipping our students with the tools necessary to accelerate their progress in school. We offer personalized instruction within a nurturing and supportive environment, fostering an atmosphere that encourages our students to reach their fullest potential. Our team comprises experienced educators who are deeply devoted to providing the support and guidance essential for our students' success.
Schooling
At Projonmo, we offer education services for specially-abled children. We have established a partnership with the Bal Bharti Educational Trust, an organization with extensive experience in this field. Together, we have developed a curriculum and teaching methodology customized to meet the unique needs of differently-abled children. Our classrooms are intentionally kept small, and we have a dedicated team of special educators and shadow teachers available to provide essential support to our students. Additionally, we are committed to facilitating mainstream integration, ensuring that our students can transition smoothly into regular academic settings whenever feasible.
Livelihood Education and skill Training
Livelihood and skill training support at Projonmo is grounded in our unwavering belief that every child, regardless of their abilities, deserves access to transformative opportunities. Our skill training programs are designed to empower specially-abled children, equipping them with essential skills and the confidence to lead independent and dignified lives. Our primary goal is to nurture economically viable skills that not only provide these children with a sense of accomplishment but also facilitate positive personality development. We offer a range of specialized activities, including weaving, incense packing, candle making, block printing, mushroom cultivation, and more. Early intervention and Parents counseling
At Projonmo, we specialize in providing early intervention and counselling services for children facing developmental delays, encompassing challenges related to speech and language delays, motor skill delays, and cognitive delays. We also concentrate on early intervention and counselling for children grappling with behavioural issues and difficulties in emotional regulation. Our services extend to offering counselling and guidance to parents, equipping them with effective parenting techniques, enhancing communication, and furnishing them with strategies to nurture their child's development. Furthermore, we offer counselling services with the goal of fortifying family relationships and support systems, particularly in cases where a child's development may be at stake.
Day Care centre
At Projonmo, our Day Care Centre for children with special needs is a place of compassion and care. We understand the unique challenges these children face, and we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Our Day Care Centre offers specialized therapy support tailored to each child's specific requirements. Our experienced and compassionate staff work diligently to create a safe and supportive space for these children to learn, grow, and develop essential life skills. We believe in the potential of every child, and our Day Care Centre is a testament to our commitment to helping them reach their full potential. Here, they receive the individualized attention and care they need to build a brighter and more inclusive future.
Physiotherapy
Our highly trained and compassionate physiotherapists work closely with each child to address mobility challenges, improve muscle strength, and promote better coordination. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and physiotherapy is a key component of that journey.
Speech Therapy
Speech impairment for a special child might be for a variety of factors.. We provide speech therapy services that are tailored to each child to help them reach their full potential. Our team of certified professionals use a clinical approach to speech therapy that is gentle yet firm, which has proven to be highly successful. We are dedicated to providing an environment that is fresh and playful.
Occupational Therapy
At Projonmo, we understand the importance of occupational therapy (OT) in a child's life. Our therapists specialize in creating personalized plans that focus on the most essential aspects of a child’s development so that they can thrive in all areas. Through our services, we work to ensure that a child can become behaviorally well adjusted, leading to big leaps in education, schooling, inter-peer relationships, command-following, sitting tolerance and a general uptick in their mood. Our goal is to provide the best OT services possible to ensure that each child can reach their full potential.
Support for Visual and Hearing Impaired
At Projonmo, we are dedicated to providing quality therapy for children who are visually and/or hearing impaired. We recognize that these children need specialized skills and techniques to help them cope with life and its challenges. Unfortunately, there is currently a lack of quality support available in Guwahati. Therefore, Projonmo is striving to create a comprehensive and effective support system for these children in the area.

Ms Ashoka Sarma
Secretary & Founder member
A social entrepreneur, dedicated to the cause of social change through education, is one of the founder membersof Projonmo, the NGO, in Guwahati., Assam. With a passionto see the challenged children growing up into confident and productive adults,she has been continuously upgrading the working methods for the development and upliftment of the disabled and marginalised children. She also mentors marginalised women from different communities informing SHGs and guides them in their endeavour to improve the quality of their lives.
Athul Nath MS
Public Sector consultant
Athul Nath M S, is our Public Sector consultant whohas kindly agreed to volunteer his expertise for ourcause. He has worked extensively with Industry Associations, Farmer Producer Organizations, and Enterprise clusters and has helped create and then build them from the ground up. He also holds a deep understanding of the Rural Livelihood Missions through his work with National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Rural Development.
Mr Simanta Baruah
Vice President
Founder member of the NGO. With a background of working in a school, and coming across children with special needs, he developed a passion to work for their development. His dedication for the cause has helped the organisation to reach this stage. Simanta Baruah heads the office of Projonmo.
Ms.Amrita Kashyap
Treasurer
A post graduate in economics, Amrita has been involved with children with special needs for more than 10 years now. With a compassion and zeal to help them in their developmental activities, she is very popular among the kids which helps them to gain confidence. Amrita customises the academic design for each child,together with the Special educators.
Dr Nimi Borgohain
Clinical Psychologists,GNRC Hospital
Meet the exceptional mind, a true maestro in the realm of Psychology! With a Master's degree from the prestigious Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University and specialized expertise in Child and Adolescence Psychology from NIMHANS, she is a force to be reckoned with. As the Chief Clinical Psychologist at GNRC Hospital Dispur, Guwahati, ASSAM, she boasts an illustrious career spanning over 22 years. Her passion lies in empowering children with autism, slow learners, those facing learning disabilities, and mental challenges. But her brilliance doesn't stop there – she is also a sought-after counselor for adults, guiding them through life's complexities. Beyond her hospital role, she's a driving force in various institutes and civil society organizations. Her contributions to society, especially in uplifting individuals with special needs, are truly awe-inspiring. In a world where empathy and expertise meet, she shines as a beacon of hope and change. Her journey continues to touch countless lives, making a lasting impact on all she encounters.
Mr Mohit Sarma
Coordinator and technical advisor
Has been associated with the organisation for over two year snow. He looks into the communications and networking for the various activities of Projonmo, including market linkage for home-based women entrepreneurs. A post graduate in Developmental Studies from I IT- (G) and being a product of NIRD-PR,Hyderabad, he has been passionately engaged inbringing forward marginalised women from grass roots.
